Exam Format

Academic Training

  • Listening (40 questions) – 30 minutes
  • Reading (40 questions) – 60 minutes
  • Writing (2 tasks) – 60 minutes
  • Speaking – 11 to 14 minutes

General Training

  • Listening (40 questions) – 30 minutes
  • Reading (40 questions) – 60 minutes
  • Writing (2 tasks) – 60 minutes
  • Speaking – 11 to 14 minutes

Writing Task Breakdown

  • Task 1 (Academic): Describe a graph, chart or diagram – 150 words, 20 minutes
  • Task 1 (General): Write a letter – 150 words, 20 minutes
  • Task 2 (Both): Write an essay on a given topic – 250 words, 40 minutes

Speaking Test Structure

  • Part 1: Introduction and interview (4–5 minutes)
  • Part 2: Individual long turn – speak on a cue card (3–4 minutes)
  • Part 3: Two-way discussion on abstract topics (4–5 minutes)
